Broiled Coconut Icing

melted butter

brown sugar

1/4

cup

evaporated milk

shredded coconut

1/2

teaspoon

vanilla

chopped pecans

Mix together oats and boiling water; let stand.

Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

Cream shortening, sugar and brown sugar.

Beat eggs well; add to oat mixture.

Add oat mixture to sugar mixture.

Add flour to oat mixture; add nuts.

Pour into greased and floured pan.

Bake 40 minutes at 350°.

Broiled Coconut Icing

Mix all ingredients together and pour over warm cake.

Put under broiler and brown. It will brown fast so watch closely.
