Cherry Winks

sifted flour

crushed corn flakes

baking powder

soda
salt

shortening
sugar
vanilla

eggs
tablespoons
milk
chopped pecans
chopped dates
1/3
chopped maraschino cherries
extra maraschino cherries for cookie tops
cornflake cereal
Sift dry ingredients. Set aside.
Cream together shortening and sugar.

Add eggs, milk, vanilla.

Blend in dry mixture; mix well.

Add pecans, dates and chopped cherries.

Roll level tablespoon of dough into a ball.

Roll ball in cornflakes.

Place on cookie sheet. Top each cookie with 1/2 cherry.

Bake for 10-12 minutes at 375°.

Do not stack or store until cold.
Yield: 5 dozen
